Abicalcados indicate that, in September, the footwear industry generated 4,54 thousand jobs, adding 44,4 thousand jobs generated between January and September this year. With this, the sector adds, throughout Brazil, 310.64 thousand direct employees, 14.2% more than in the same period last year. This was the best performance in the industry since 2015, and has been presenting 10% more jobs over the same period in 2019. Between January and September, according to data from Abicalcados, exports of footwear amounted to US$990 million, 60% more than in the same period last year. Rio Grande do Sul was the largest employer. Between January and September, the Gaucha footwear industry generated 9,47 thousand jobs, ending the month nine with 85,32 thousand people employed in the activity, 11.3% more than in the same period last year. The footwear sector in Rio Grande do Sul accounts for 27.5% of Brazilian jobs generated in the activity. The second state that most employs in the stocking activity is Ceará, which between January and September generated 9,15 thousand jobs, adding a total of 70,66 thousand people employed in the activity, 12,8% more than in the same range of 2021. The third employer of the footwear sector in Brazil is Bahia, which in the first nine months of the year generated 8.65 thousand jobs. With this, the Bahian footwear industry adds a total of 44.34 thousand people employed in the activity, 27% more than in the same period last year. São Paulo was in fourth place, between January and September, the São Paulo stock industry generated 7,57 thousand jobs, adding a total of 36,38 thousand people employed in the activity, 16.7% more than last year.
